The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Daily Deviation

Today I received a Daily Deviation for Branched! This is a special DD, because it's an important piece to me, the fractal artist. Branched is a fractal over two years in the makIng. I'm glad my obsessiveness paid off!

I want to thank `SuicideBySafetyPin for selecting/featuring my work, and also for nudging me to post again on dA. Not that there was any drama about coming back, but as I explained in my last journal, life got in the way. Also, losing much of my rendered work left me devastated and reluctant to render again. I don't know what I would have done if I had lost all my parameters.

For all of you who continued to support my past work and those of you enjoying my current work, I'd like to give you all a big thanks! I'm also touched to know that there were many deviants who encouraged me to return to dA. This is me glomping you =>

As a side note, I go on vacation this Thursday. I'm in the process of deleting my 16,000 messages. If there is anything you feel is important and needs my immediate attention, you have until Wednesday (4/18) to note me! After that, I'm gone for a couple of weeks.
