Clair this is just amazing. I love that "braided" look in the lower right. I can't get any of mine to look this great. Yes the color is perfect.
I would love a tutorial on making these better. I'm still relying on starter flames, yours and others. I know what variations to use, just not how to best refine them.

Erm, I don't really know since I haven't read The Wheel of Time series (my husband told me not to read it since I guess it's rather misogynistic). I used the name for some Norse mythological tree...um, thing: [link] .

Thank you! I hadn't really noticed that braid section in the bottom right corner until you mentioned it (I think I was more focused on quality issues and hotspots).

Argh, tutorial. Yes. I have been dragging my feet on the tutorial over the past several months for many reasons. For starters, the technique is very difficult to explain because every flame is unique, which is in stark contrast to those used in previous tutorials. I have also been trying to find a flame that is both sufficient for the tutorial but also expendable enough for me to give up the rights and include in a public download. Lastly, I have toyed with the idea of producing a video tutorial. Of course, that creates all sorts of editing nightmares, something I don't want to think about right now with a looming redesign of my Apophysis web site.

I really do want to put out this tutorial, I'm just really struggling to figure out when I can devote the time to do so. My last tutorial was an absolute nightmare and it's not a process I look forward to repeating. I keep hoping that time will help me work out the logistics in my brain...

I am glad you are at least considering writing one. I know the daunting task of doing something like that as I just proposed a new online class for my college. It will require some new kinds of online content I not only have to learn, but then design and use it.

Whenever you get to it, it will be appreciated. I for one, already appreciate what you have shared.
